After striking out miserably with a first-year coordinator last year, I would prefer someone with a proven track record to come in.

Whether it be a 3-4 or 4-3 coach, I don't think it matters. I would love to see Jauron or Crennel coach this defense. I know Spags was a home run choice, but that's tough to get a rookie coordinator to have that kind of success.

And the Giants aren't rebuilding. How many years does Coughlin have left? Two? Max. This will probably be the last coordinator he hires, so I would imagine he would want someone he could rely on from Day 1.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6389921495587729314.post-34793665532212116752010-01-10T23:48:26.729-05:002010-01-10T23:48:26.729-05:00Well after today, Pepper Johnson is available for ...Well after today, Pepper Johnson is available for an interview. You remember that one, its the defense the Giants used (unsuccessfully) when they stood four of their D-lineman up, in order to confuse the O-line as to who was blitzing.

The problem? The Giants stood up Tuck, Kiwi, Osi and Robbins. OK -- who did the O-line think was blitzing?

When Green Bay just did it, the Packers had one lineman on the field: Jenkins. The rest of the "lineman" were either DB's or LB's. Whose defense would work better?

The Giants: stand up four D-lineman and rush all four or the the Packers who have one lineman and the rest could either rush or drop back in coverage.

Sheridan: You are an idiot.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6389921495587729314.post-71110700102742857442010-01-10T17:10:17.498-05:002010-01-10T17:10:17.498-05:00If Ern does not come back by Monday afternoon, I m...If Ern does not come back by Monday afternoon, I may go on a hunger strike. However, he is coming off knee surgery and let's hope we don't have a repeat of Osi.

I really do think we will ve vastly improved with healthy DT's returning next year. I would like to see us draft at S but sign via FA at MLB. MLB is a position that needs some veteran leadership. Anyone know who is a available FA this year?

Chris BAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6389921495587729314.post-1659009871747299352010-01-10T15:43:33.263-05:002010-01-10T15:43:33.263-05:00I disagree with Mitch and Wayno. I don't think...I disagree with Mitch and Wayno. I don't think our DT's were ever stellar. They were solid, but not great. And don't forget -- who was real good at getting that push with Robbins? Alford. Remember he sacked Brady on the Pats last drive. And he'll be back next year.

I would want the Giants to draft McClain or Spikes in that 15th spot. However, there are a number of good defensive players in this draft (I'm not counting Suh because there's no way he'll drop past the top five):

Eric Berry (S), McClain (LB), Spikes (LB), Dan Wiliams (DT), Gerald McCoy (DT). If the Giants get any one of those players I'll be fine with it. I just have to hope one of them is still available when the Giants pick.

The Giants just need tackles that get an occasional push. They don't need a Suh-type (although that would be nice). The problem this season were the tackles were being blown off the ball. They couldn't even hold their position. And I think Alford coming back will be a big boost.Dannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6389921495587729314.post-49939175679398982492010-01-10T15:14:50.446-05:002010-01-10T15:14:50.446-05:00Disagree w/ Anonymous & agree w/ Wayne2424. In...Disagree w/ Anonymous & agree w/ Wayne2424. In 2007 our interior defensive lineman were stellar. This year teams ran up the middle and we got no push up front. That is why our edge rushers never got to the passer. The QB's were allowed to step up in the pocket and make plays. We need a lot of help in different areas, but it all begins and ends with the trenches. We would never do it...but if we were to be aggresive and trade up to get Ndamukong Suh, he is a difference maker that could anchor our line making the DE's more effective and transform our Defense into a powerhouse again. It is a pipedream, but "HE IS" THAT GOOD!Mitchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02151576898703507305noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6389921495587729314.post-67450738288669004462010-01-10T12:13:33.952-05:002010-01-10T12:13:33.952-05:00Ern,

Giants swept the Cowboys in the regular season and if they had showed ANY character against Carolina, there's a possibility that it could have been three straight. Nothing more aggravating to a fan than seeing a team you know your favorite team handled, move on in the playoffs while your team is hitting the golf course.dweez115noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6389921495587729314.post-57476120541798223592010-01-10T09:18:11.650-05:002010-01-10T09:18:11.650-05:00i disagree. Gof has had an opportunity and done nothign with it. safety is a need, but theres enough good ones that theres bound to be more than a few to pick from in round 2. the tackles this year were all injured or recovering from injury and should improve vastly next season. OLB is a slight need, but Boley and Sintim have the positions locked up for next season. a MLB like McLain or - more likely - Spikes will make the whole defensive unit play a whole lot better.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6389921495587729314.post-2438683096231736932010-01-10T08:00:19.690-05:002010-01-10T08:00:19.690-05:00If there is some stud MLB that the Giants really w...If there is some stud MLB that the Giants really want and can get I say go for it.
