I think he's a good, solid coach that has a lot of fire. But his front office demands will not fly in NY, so we're debating something that won't happen anyway. Jerry Reese AND Tom Coughlin are NOT both going to get fired (I don't believe either man is in ANY danger), so Cowher won't be interested. He wants full control and, frankly, NY won't give it to him and there are probably at least two other NFL teams that will.dweez115noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6389921495587729314.post-81368933826493171282009-12-29T12:19:41.579-05:002009-12-29T12:19:41.579-05:00I agree with dweez. Statistically what makes him any better than Coughlin?

A few more regular season wins?

And don't forget Coughlin took over an expansion team -- not the greatest franchise in football like Cowher did.

Is Cowher a Hall of Fame coach? He may not be coming to NY but HE IS A GREAT COACH that gets the most out of his players and is not afraid to do something different or utilize his players the best way he can.Wayno2424http://wayne.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6389921495587729314.post-12671020559781293852009-12-29T11:40:10.995-05:002009-12-29T11:40:10.995-05:00Cowher won't come to NY. He'll want front ...Cowher won't come to NY. He'll want front office control and the Giants won't give it to him. Plus, is Cowher's record REALLY that great? 15 years to get one Super Bowl doesn't exactly make him the modern Vince Lombardi. Cowher's winning percentage in the postseason is identical to Coughlin's postseason percentage with the Giants - .571. Yes, Cowher has the better regular season record .623 vs. .585 for Coughlin in NY, but Cowher's Steelers usually had four "gimme" games every year against the Browns and Bengals. Granted, the Browns and Bengals were not ALWAYS pushovers EVERY year, but I don't think you can honestly say the AFC North (or Central in Cowher's early years) has been consistently as competitive as the NFC East.dweez115noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6389921495587729314.post-51006847694515399302009-12-29T11:31:15.410-05:002009-12-29T11:31:15.410-05:00With all the Giants offering apologies yesterday, ...With all the Giants offering apologies yesterday, I'm surprised nobody offered that their "dog ate the gameplan."Mitchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02151576898703507305noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6389921495587729314.post-35992072998751646612009-12-29T11:18:41.768-05:002009-12-29T11:18:41.768-05:00Good grades ERN, no soft grades there, although ma...Good grades ERN, no soft grades there, although maybe I would have liked to see a couple F- thrown in there. I've never been a huge Coughlin fan but he did bring us a Super bowl. If he stays I guess that is OK.

KG I am kind of indifferent. He can call great games but he can also call really bad ones too. But overall he and Eli seem to be growing well together. If he stays that's OK too.

TS has to go though. The defense, especially Osi has definitely bailed on him. He's got no vote confidence from the players. It's a mistake to keep him as DC.

As for all your grades Ernie you're on the money.

Let's look forward to next year.

It's tough listening and reading about the Jets making the playoffs. You really want to disrupt the team by removing a coach that the vast majority of players still seem to respect? Since when does winning a Super Bowl not get you at least three years of job security?

It was easy to get spoiled on this team, a team that was supposed to be a devastating force and then looked it for the first few wins of the season. But, as the Cowboys have taught us over the years, they don't hand out Lombardi trophies for being the best team on paper. The Carolina loss was horrific, but they shouldn't have been in that position in the first place: you don't want to have must-win games at the end of the season. It's much easier to win seemingly inconsequential games mid-season. Repairing this team begins with the offensive line: the days of the heralded run-blocking in NY is over, and it became clear that even Brandon's Buick physique isn't enough to do it alone.

A disappointing way to go. Hopefully they hand the Minnesota Favres one more loss as they go down swinging. Thanks for everything this season, Ern.MikeChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09679424092675522485noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6389921495587729314.post-88053842559969953072009-12-29T10:59:05.511-05:002009-12-29T10:59:05.511-05:00Giants won't chase after a big name coach like...Giants won't chase after a big name coach like Cowher. Plus, sounds like he is going to TB. This smacks of the end of 2006 all over again. TC will get another try but Sheridan will (MUST is the better word) be let go per JR. However, I don't have a name but we need to look outside the current coaching staff for a new DC.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6389921495587729314.post-31238866951906734952009-12-29T10:35:51.040-05:002009-12-29T10:35:51.040-05:00Two words Ernie---Bill CowherTwo words Ernie---Bill Cowherbriannoreply@blogger.com
