LT Indicted

Yep. The grand jury in Lawrence Taylor's rape case indicted him today. His lawyer said the Hall-of-Fame linebacker will plead not guilty to having sexual relations with a 16-year-old prostitute when he appears in court July 13.

Wonder if he'll steal OJ's "Absolutely, 100 percent not guilty, your honor." That's a good defense. But if I were LT, I'd say, "I double-dog dare you to throw this case out." Can't dodge a double-dog dare, ya know. It's in the law books.

  1. In all actuality LT shouldn't have even been hasseled after about day 2 no matter how reprehensible u think his behavior was. If this DA had any stones as a man he wouldnt even prosecute this case as he is going against the spirit of the law and persecuting a man as we are so often in modern times in the eyes of the law unlike women who are afforded every doubt.

  2. Ernie- I think you have a typo in your post because you say that LT's lawyer says his client WILL plead guilty. I haven't read that anywhere else, could you please confirm it? Thanks

  3. Ernie - we all know you have a history with the guy, but if you can't file a legitimate report on LT then don't file one at all. I think we would all respect you for saying, "I can't stand the guy, so I'm passing on this story.". It's the professional thing to do. We all know the old adage that a grand jury can indict a ham sandwich. I don't know if LT is guilty or not, but to try to make it sound like an indictment IS finding him guilty and then comparing him to a cold blooded murderer, is just unprofessional. IF he did it and IF he's blown so much of his money that his lawyer is a hack, he'll go to jail. Even if he didn't do it and his lawyer is a hack, he may go to jail. Let the legal process work and stop cheapening yourself by being so biased. Like him, hate him, or even indifferent, he is entitled to his day in court before you pop the champagne cork to celebrate his conviction. This is a good blog, but clearly LT brings out the worse in you. Let it go or, if you can't, don't report the story.

  4. Peter:

Apologies. Had changed around a sentence and managed to drop the NOT in not guilty. Still, I should have picked up on that. It's corrected now.

  9. I just saw this breaking news. It's terrible. Leg is fractured and had nerves and arteries exposed. He was conscious when they took him in. Prayers for the kid.

  14. Just heard a news update on WFAN New York that the doctors expect him to keep both legs.

  15. Good to hear he will keep his legs and that his life isn't in danger. Tragic that his career is probably over before it even began.

I agree with Tom's comment that nothing good ever happens after 2:00 a.m..

I'm just praying for this kid. It only took a split second for every plan he probably made for the next 5-to-10 years to do a complete 180 degree turn on him. The adjustment to his life coming down the pike is going to be a hard one to say the least. However, he seems to have been able to keep his leg and of the two: career vs. leg I have no doubt everyone here would rather be walking on what God gave them. Just a tragic shame.
