Nope. Just when it looked like S Kenny Phillips and CB Kevin Dockery would cruise back into the lineup in time for Dallas, they sat out the last practice of the week with respective knee and hamstring injuries. Both are now listed as questionable, though Tom Coughlin indicated he was hopeful both would play.
If Phillips can't make it, though, it means C.C. Brown will fill in next to Michael Johnson. That will still leave them a safety short, so they might consider bringing up practice squad safety Sha'reff Rashad, a rookie free agent out of Central Florida.
They have until tomorrow at 4 p.m. to make a move.
In the meantime, Coughlin will remain hopeful that Phillips can transfer his classroom learning onto the field to make up for any missed practices.
"Let’s face it, when you don’t practice every day, there is something," Coughlin said. "He has to make up for it by the studying, being with his coach, the little tips and keys that you get.
"But when he worked he was obviously very good in center field and he obviously got some very good clues because he ended up where the ball was probably three or four times yesterday. So he is just going to have to work extra hard in the classroom."
The news on DT Chris Canty wasn't nearly so encouraging. He's out with a calf strain, and he may have to sit even longer.
