Waiver Pickup

The Giants were awarded tackle Herb Taylor off Denver waivers today.

The 6-foot-3, 295-pound Taylor was active for one game with the Broncos, but did not play, after signing him Dec. 9. Kansas City, for which he played 18 games in the two years since he became their sixth-round pick in 2007, cut him Sept. 4. Taylor has played at both tackles.

  1. Alright Ernie, I need your betting wisdom: The Giants are 20-1 to win next year's Super Bowl. Good bet?

FYI: Dallas is 12-1, Philly is 16-1, the Saints 10-1, Colts 13-2, Jets 25-1

Yeah, I'm just the guy you want for betting advice! I haven't picked one right the whole year.

  3. Ernie, I just heard a certain personality on the FAN say there are rumors that the giants will be opening the new stadium against the bears in the first sunday nighter. Think there could be any truth to that one?

  4. Ernie, good story by Mike G on Kenny Phillips. Looks like rehab is progressing well. Getting him back would be huge, assuming he can play like he did before the injury....just huge.

  5. On last thing Ernie,

When do we hear about the Giants letting go of CC Brown, Rocky Bernard, etc.? When does the roster clense start?

  6. Herb Taylor is an intriguing prospect and pick up by the Giants.... ahh forget it, I can't even sell myself, lets do draft and free agency analysis because waiver wire pickups can't get me going

  7. Pick ups off the waiver wire are actually a great way to get huge value if you know what you're doing, which Reese does. The Gartrell Johnson pick up last year provided a good special teams player and back up running back. These guys can sometimes replace draft busts on your roster. When you upgrade a busted draft slot, the waiver wire pick up becomes a de facto draft pick.
