Here are today's inactives. And while you're at it, you might want to peruse my friend Patti Triana's list of Ins and Outs at Inside Football. All of us have had them -- here's the one I did Tuesday. But she also gives a nice little rundown of the ramifications of an uncapped year, something we'll be delving into here at some point this week.
And so, the inactives.
GIANTS
QB Rhett Bomar
CB Corey Webster
S Sha'reff Rashad
T Kareem McKenzie
G Rich Seubert
WR Mario Manningham
TE Scott Chandler
DT Chris Canty
That means Ramses Barden, the third-round wide receiver who spent the entire year on the inactive list, will get his first chance today. Also, fifth-round quarterback Rhett Bomar is dressed as the emergency quarterback, marking the first time the Giants will have three quarterbacks in uniform since 2007. Also, with Seubert and McKenzie out, Kevin Boothe and Will Beatty will start. This will be the fourth start for Beatty, the second for Boothe.
VIKINGS
QB Sage Rosenfels
WR Jaymar Johnson
CB Karl Paymah
TE Garrett Mills
LB J Leman
C Jon Cooper
DT Jimmy Kennedy
DE Jayme Mitchell

Ernie - I know he's safe. The Maras are loyal to a fault. But can you REALLY say after this performance, following last week's performance, that Coughlin SHOULD be safe? This team is playing with NO HEART, NO PRIDE, and NO FUTURE unless something drastically changes. I've been watching the Giants since the early 70s and I honestly don't remember being this embarrassed by their lack of effort before. How can a Head Coach be considered "untouchable" when his team plays like this two weeks in a row? Disgraceful showing! And why, WHY, risk Eli for THIS? Fourth Quarter, 44-0, and the franchise QB is still on the field. Why? What good can come of keeping him on the field?
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more. Eli hasn't had any time at all today. He's fortunate he hasn't gotten killed out there. This is not his fault.
ReplyDeleteBefore the game I would have told you that it would be crazy to consider Coughlin losing his job. But now I'm not sure how crazy it is, I mean his team has just quit. Now who do we draft with around the 15th pick in the draft?
ReplyDeleteGreat "effort" and "pride" shown by most Giants players today. What a clusterf@#$k this team is right now. Quitters and incompetent coaching.
ReplyDelete& now we have to stomach the Eagles and Boys in the playoffs.
Talk about going out on a low. Off-season evaluations will be interesting to say the least.
ReplyDeleteWhat I can't guage right now is if TC lost his team. Two horrible games to end the season is not good. He had them in Washington though. That's a tough one. My guy says he does but the fact I am questioning that is not good.

Coughlin is safe, BS will be the one who's head gets served up to our fanbase. This game was simply the final nail in his coffin. It should also serve as an alert to Reese about how much work the Defense needs in the offseason.
ReplyDeleteThe D doesn't just need players, this group needs a leader.
Oh ya, Sheridan is a forgone conclusion at this point. Welcome Dick Jauron, your new DC for next season.
ReplyDeleteThis will be one of the most interesting off-seasons in years in Giants-land.

Unfortunately, the Soviet Union no longer exists because Sheridan should not JUST be fired, he should shipped to a gulag in Siberia. Wherever Ray Handley is, he's smiling knowing that Sheridan has surpassed him on the list of all time despised NY coaches and coordinators.
ReplyDeletei do not see how you bring Coughlin back. He has completely lost this team and the game has passed him by. The Super Bowl was won by Spagnola and a great pass rush with some help from Eli and Plaxico. The Mara's famous loyalty should be out the window. One also has to wonder if Reese is up to this job based on what he brought in this year
ReplyDeleteCoughlin has lost total control of the team. He has to go!!! It is a disgrace to go 3-8 after the 5-0 start. The last 2 games were utter debacles! New leadership must be implemented!
