With 33 years as a professional sportswriter for the Journal News (Westchester, N.Y.) and 20 years covering the Giants, Ernie Palladino brings a wealth of knowledge to this blog. His contacts inside and outside the organization will make this blog the fastest, most objective news source for Giants fans of all ages.
CORRECTION: Upon further review, spurred by an astute reader's comments, I and the person who made this video made a huge gaffe on Penn State's Dennis Landolt. He actually played left tackle as a senior, his only season on that side. And his number is 73, not 79.
You can still see him on the tape, though. Just look to the left instead of the right, where the arrow is.
I have to say, after reading some scouting reports about this guy, he seems like a steal. He battled an MCL injury last season, but he has gotten some pretty glowing reviews. He's been compard to guys like Jon Beason and Takeo Spikes -- not bad, especially for an undrafted FA.
At the start of the year scouts had him ranked as the second best ILB in the draft. Here's a real impressive scouting report of him from NFL Draft Dog, but keep in mind, it was done before the combine.
The ILB from Minnesota is another steal. The guy is a tackling machine, perhaps too slow for NFL but one of these guys that if the scheme is right, he'll make plays. could be better than average special teamer
Watch out Wilkinson, Kehl and Blackburn! There are plenty of mlb on the roster! Or we could talk about 33 year old DE's that don't have a chance to make the team?
Don't know what the first poster was watching. Maybe you were watching the tight end? On most plays he looked very strong and even blew the DE into the secondary on a few. Very good footwork on pass protection as well.
Ernie,
ReplyDeleteI'm not an expert, but this guy doesn't seem very consistent based on this video.
I think Ern enjoyed this draft and the aftermath as much as anybody and he is the draft grinch no longer! Care to mock 2011????
ReplyDeleteSomeone was asking about Micah Johnson earlier. He did sign with the Giants. Here's the story from a Kentucky newspaper:
