Fendi Onobun, a basketball convert who saw limited time at tight end at the University of Houston, will visit the Giants April 11 after posting some impressive numbers at his Pro Day workout Tuesday.
Onobun, working on just four hours of sleep, ran a 4.48 40, which was faster than all the tight ends except one who ran at the combine in February. He also did a good job with the other drills. He had the best vertical jump and broad jump of any of the 12 players who worked out, and tied for the best shuttle time.
Might be worth a look on the final day as scouts seem to like his 6-5 1/2, 243-pound size and athletic ability. He also seems to have good hands, as he caught 13 of the 14 balls thrown to him, missing only the first.
He caught just two passes for 33 yards last year after transferring from the University of Arizona, where he played basketball during his four-year stay.
