They wrapped up Rich Seubert's broken hand and sent him back to work today. According to my double-secret source (no names, but his initials are Ralphie V.) Seubert didn't do much in practice this morning, but will do more in tonight's session.
Nice that he's getting back, considering the offensive line might be losing someone else before long. Coughlin said RG Chris Snee's knee is swollen and bears watching.
Put that together with four injured tight ends -- Kevin Boss (hamstring), Scott Chandler (hip flexor), Jake Ballard (hamstring), and Travis Beckum (hamstring) -- and WR Steve Smith (groin), and the offense right now has more holes than swiss cheese. But apparently Victor Cruz, an undrafted free agent wide receiver from UMass, is having himself quite the camp. That gave Tom Coughlin something to smile about.
"What do we need anybody for?" Coughlin said. "We've got Victor Cruz."
Oh, and Corey Webster will also sit out the evening practice.

Ern,
ReplyDeleteyou forget Sinorice Moss, who is out as well. he's got to be close to finished. The Giants should let him go so he can catch on with another team. I prefer Cruz or Brown to Moss at this time. Moss has had ample time to show his stuff.
I'm surprised that no one has picked up the Victor Cruz story. He's a NJ boy, played at Patterson Catholic. Let's keep him!
ReplyDeleteI hope Cruz and Tim Brown can play ST because there is definately room for them on the squad. Anybody have any other info on Cruz?
ReplyDeleteAll of these injuries, coupled with last year's, are really starting to concern me. Ernie, any speculation amoungst you and your secret agents regarding the rash of injuries over the past year? We lose Snee, we're going to be a lot of choice words I will refrain from using.
ReplyDeleteEvery football team has injuries and I do not think there was an inordinate amount last year no matter what Reese might have u believe. Perhaps if u are looking for a scapegoat look straight at the players who showed very little toughness on the field or in the locker room.
ReplyDeleteWayno, are you serious? Tuck, Pierce, Phillips, Ross, Cofield, Canty, Bernard, and Boley all spent significant time with injury. Yes, some played through it, but not at 100%. On offense, both Jacobs, Bradshaw, Eli, Nicks, Mackenzie, Seubert, and O'Hara all had significant injuries and either missed time or the injury greatly affected their performance. That is 14 out of 22 starters (only counting one of the RBs as a starter). That amounts to 63% of our starting team. And you are telling me that injury did not play a role? Yes, every team has injuries, but last year the Giants had some significant injuries to key personnel. Tuck was never the same after the Adams tripping. Boley took a while to come back after the hip. Eli battled pain the whole year. It is tough for an athlete to perform well with the types of injuries these guys had. And trust me, I think that most the guys I listed displayed plenty toughness. Bradshaw's wheels were broken and he still amassed over 800 yards rushing. That's darn heroic. Or how about Eli with pain from week 5 on.
ReplyDeleteCanty Bernard and Boley are not tough. Just ask the women two of them beat up because if u cant get a woman to cry w/ mental abuse but have to use ur fists, u are not tough.
ReplyDeleteSo, in other words Wayno, you did not have an intellectual retort to my latest post about FOOTBALL, thus leading you to regress into players' personal lives. You stated in the post before mine, "Perhaps if u are looking for a scapegoat look straight at the players who showed very little toughness on the field or in the locker room". No where in your recent post do you mention the field or the locker room. So, the person who claims to know more about football than 95% of the community here cannot even counter with football facts in a football debate.
ReplyDeletewayno just wants everyone to think he's a FOE (friend of Ernie), he's never added much in terms of football content.
ReplyDeleteThe injuries, especially the hamstring and groin injuries, have to be considered part of the training program. Ross missed an entire season or most of it, this is not the norm.
If a player is missing practice due to injury, one has to look at the player before subscribing to Wayno's notion that they are weak. For someone like Moss, Ballard and Beckum they need to get on the field so it's legit. FOr someone like Boss or Snee, they've got nothing to prove and should rest.
Boley played through injury the whole season and Canty went so far as to have experimental therapy done on him to get back to the playing field. How many of us would do this for our own jobs? How many would do it when your pay was guaranteed and you've been paid up front? The answer is nobody.
Wayno is some has-been ex player who believes that had he been blessed with athleticism he'd do things differently....wake up Wayno time to flip the burgers
I guess wayno feels that Hixon should be back on the field soon too...
ReplyDeleteIs Wayno even a Giant fan? he rants against players continually....except for CJ Spiller
ReplyDeleteWhat u guys forget a lot is that last season was an EMBARASSMENT! I have plenty of positive things to say (Tuck, Eli, Snee Hicks) but all u want to act as if all I say is negative when its just most because from week 6 on the Giants were THE WORST TEAM IN THE NFL! And damn straight if I had athleticism these guys had things would be different.
ReplyDeleteWayno2424, last year was indeed an embarrassment, but when you make statements indicating that the Giants did not suffer a great amount of injuries and that Reese is merely looking for excuses...well, that makes many posters wonder, what games were you actually watching.
ReplyDeletequeue Itchy and Scratchy theme song: "They fight....and fight.....and fight and fight and fight.....fight-fight-fight....fight-fight-fight....the CE and Wayno shoooowwwwwww"
