Kenny Phillips will make his first appearance in live action since Game 2 of last season when he takes the field for the Pittsburgh game Saturday night. My guess is he won't play a whole lot, but just enough to test out that microfracture surgery on his left knee in game conditions.
The other good news is that Keith Bulluck will also play at middle linebacker, marking his return to action after ACL surgery in January. WR Steve Smith (groin) and Corey Webster (glut) will also play. Here's the whole story from Mikey G.

Way to be on top of things Ern. I cant wait til ur at practice every day. VIDEO! BREAKING NEWS! VIDEO! INTERVIEWS! I AM READY!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteVery surprised Phillips is playing, even if for a short time. This can be considered nothing short of great news. Bulluck, the same.
Ohhhh no. Can he play in a bubble? I'd really rather not see him on the field until the last preseason game and for one drive tops in that.
ReplyDeleteHe's gotta be weened in behind Grant in the reg season. This is a serious injury he's coming off from. Keep your fingers crossed
Now I have to take time to watch.
ReplyDeleteTom - HEY, you should be watching the Rhett Bomar show anyway buddy!
ReplyDeleteGreat news on both counts. Bulluck could be a major find if he can get back to being anywhere near the player he was.
ReplyDeletewow this just made my day. those hurricane safeties are going to make it hard to pass over the middle.
ReplyDeleteGiants signed Shawn Andrews! WTF Jerry?!?!?
ReplyDeletehttp://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/08/20/morning-surprise-giants-pick-up-shawn-andrews/
What is wrong with picking up a 27 yr old, 2 time pro bowl plyer as nothing but depth? This pickup is great, give the Giants depth, and allows the Giants to cut Koets and/or Suebert whose best days are behind him and is miffed to be a backup.
ReplyDeleteGREAT PICKUP JERRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shawn Andrews...isn't he the one that suffers from Major Depressive Disorder? I hope the Giants' psychologist is up for this guy coming in. If not, let me know. That is my dream job!
ReplyDeleteThis is good news. This might be our chance at getting a glance of what the starting defense may look like for the start of the season. I'd even substitute Bryan Kehl or Gerris Wilkinson for Clint Sintim. Both of those guys played a little more physical in the last game.
ReplyDeleteAnd I really like the Andrews pickup. Something tells me that there's some concern with the run blocking. Obviously, they need to whip this guy into shape, but I'd insert him as the LG and move Diehl back to LT for 1 more year.
