The only independent Giants blog written and edited by a true journalist. The real, inside story.
This is a revealing quote on Ross' injury:
ReplyDeleteCoughlin said Ross was not hurt on his long punt return.
"He was complaining about the tape job," Coughlin said. "That's the only thing I knew about it, and now all of the sudden, the next day, it was...this."
This...really sucks. What is it with these injuries? Pre-season definitely needs to be shortened, but I'm not so sure it should be at the expense of 2 regular season games, as much as I love the sport.
And another revealing quote, this by Shawn Andrews:
ReplyDelete"I played right tackle my whole college career, and I played right guard my whole career in Philly (with the Eagles)," Andrews said. "Being on the left side, I don't know if it has anything to do with being left-handed, but it feels more natural."
Could the plan be to have Andrews eventually become LT (should his past issues become buried in the past), and move Diehl inside, as the team has not yet fully endorsed Beatty?
I like it Tom. If this guy is really past his mental problems, this was a great get by Reese. But of course, that's a big IF.
ReplyDeleteread the article by Mike G on Andrews left tackle escalator and you'll see that Beatty is definitely not the guy for the future. Too bad we didn't get a shot at NJ native Anthony Davis.
ReplyDeleteI believe Landolt is going to make this team in some way. he was too good a college player
the giants trainers and training methods need to be questioned. The injury to Ross, bad tape? the injury to Jacobs, bad lifting protocol (no warm up, the assorted hamstring and groin injuries. This team seems to lack a true training program that minimizes this injuries.
ReplyDeleteThis is weak coverage, just posting someone else's review
ReplyDeleteBeatty has not impressed...period. he was a high draft pick that has not taken the necessary steps to move into a starting role. Left tackle is the most important position on the oline and he was supposed to be a star in the making.
ReplyDeleteANON @ 9:40: YES, YES, AND YES!
ReplyDeleteOut of 70+ players, 1 player notices a bad tape job causing obvious discomfort (in which the players fails to inform) and the Giants training methods are in question. Are you kidding me? And somehow the weight lifting injury to Jacobs fall on the trainers as well. How? The guy has been with the Giants for a few years now. He's participated in a number of OTA's and training camp. Not to mention, stretching is 101 weightlifting. This is something you learn in high school.
ReplyDeleteHaj, you bring up some good points. Jacobs, you have been playing football since high school. You lifted in H.S., college, and up to now. Dude, you have to stretch! This is not brain surgery, then again, wouldn't want a surgeon who did not prep adequately either. Stretching and making sure your equipment/taping is appropriately secured falls completely on the player. Yes, the training staff has to make sure their methods and inspections are excellent, but the player needs to be able to know when their equipment/taping is not on par. It is the little things.
ReplyDeleteThings often seem to befall Ross and Jacobs.
