Coughlin In A Bit

We'll talk to Tom Coughlin in a little while. In the meantime, here's something to chew on.

This may be the Giants' toughest game of the year, the one coming up Sunday night in Dallas. They're opening the new stadium down there, and that's plenty cause for concern. Fans'll be pumped to the heavens. Not to mention the Cowboys appeared strong in their 34-21 win over Tampa Bay last week.

It's always tough going into Dallas, but stadium openings turn already rough games into one-time, monumental events. How the Giants handle that mental part will tell a lot about how this new group will fare down the road. Pay close attention to the wide receivers and how they handle the pressure and the noise. No worries with the veteran defense, though. Those guys have been in all sorts of situations.

I'm starting to think that, between the emotions, crowd, and strength of the Cowboys -- Tony Romo did have a career day in Tampa at 16-of-27 for 353 yards and three touchdowns -- it could be a long night for the Giants. As hard as it may be to believe, though, they've proven me wrong in the past.

Opinions?

Be back after Coughlin.

  1. I can't help but feel like we're all going to know shortly after kickoff whether this turns out to be a game or not... If Eli can go out there and lead the boys to a TD on the opening drive, I don't think there's any way the Cowboys run away with it... But if Eli opens with a quick pick on a poor decision (like the one last week, though it really was his only awful play), I think it definitely could be a long night. That being said, a couple quick scores and a couple good defensive stands I can see Jerry's parade deflating by halftime... Go Giants!

  2. I think if the Giants can withstand the inital onslaught of emotion that the Cowboys and their fans are going to bring then they have a chance. I think back to the playoff game in 2007 when the Cowboys were 13-3 and were heavily favored against the G-men. The G-men were able to keep the game close and then were able to eventually wear down the 'Boys. Hopefully Sunday will be a repeat of that game.
