More Info

Here's a couple of more links for you -- Mike Eisen's notes and anecdotes and the complete stats package.

Here's a couple of interesting statistics. The Giants actually lost the all-important turnover differential 2-1. But they were aided greatly by the fact that they only had two penalties the whole game, as opposed to the six to eight penalties they've averaged over the last seven games.

Also, Dallas controlled the ball for just under 39 minutes. Considering the pace the Cowboys employed, it's a wonder any of the defenders was standing at the end. The Cowboys racked up 424 total yards, all but one of those coming from completions to Jason Witten (okay, I'm exaggerating there. But he did get 156 of them on 14 receptions).

Just shows you the value of the big play and of taking advantage of a turnover. But keep in mind, too, that they still left points on the board in the Red Zone, scoring a touchdown and a field goal in two trips there.

  1. if/when you go back and watch the game, can you try and count how many times a defensive lineman was in coverage?

  2. A win is a win, but you know that Andy Reid is licking his chops after seeing how our secondary got carved up, lately Webster seems to be trailing the receiver and out of position alot. Roy Williams is neither fast or quick, this is not a good sign when he has to match up against Eagles WR.
I agree with the post above about DE/DL in coverage. Maybe this team is built to be a 3-4. I hope the Quality control coach looks at Eli closely, I swear he must give something away, all the safeties on the cowboys didn't bite on any fakes, his TD to Nicks was into double-coverage after looking off the whole route. Somethings up with it.

  3. the play by Tollefson was huge, he hit the guy and all forward movement stopped, I'm not sure if a LB or a safety has the same impact.

The defensive linemen do not "clear a path" for the blitzing LBs and others, they all end up being stockpiled and stopped at the line. This shows me that our DL is just not well coached in this technique or they are just too weak to drive their opposing lineman in the direction that they need. We are undersized, if you can believe it, by most standards, even with loads like Bernard, Robbins and Cofield. Fred and Barry get a pass because of the knee injuries, we all know how good these players can be when they're at full strength. Bernard is a bust. there were questions surrounding him in Seattle, we should have never made this move.
