A Little Peppers, Maybe?

Looks like the Panthers are not going to use the franchise tag on defensive end Julius Peppers, so he'll have an opportunity to test the market. And judging by his snarky statement that included the notion that the Panthers never gave him a chance to improve as a player, he won't be headed back to Charlotte.

Question is, do you guys want him? Should the Giants make a play for the 30-year-old pass-rusher?

As I said a couple of weeks ago, I've never been a big Peppers fan, unless they're sprinkled liberally around my chicken scarpariella. The guy disappears way too often for my liking and has never been the overriding force he had the ability to be. Now, at 30, it's unlikely he'll ever be that force. He'll undoubtedly be looking for big salary numbers, too, so signing him would also be an economic risk.

So what do you think? You like him?

  1. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, Nyet, uh-uh, nope, nada, never, no, no and NO!

Haven't we had enough of prima donna DEs lately? Strahan, Osi ... on and on it goes ...

  2. Noooooooo! He's another Randy Moss. Great talent but takes too many plays off.

His price tag is way too high for someone who gives 100% only part of the time.

  3. A little Peppers is all you'll get, you're right, he takes too many plays off and cost too much money. Why eat in Little Italy when you can have grandma cook for you at home. Give me the chicken scarpariella, hold the peppers.

  5. No way on Peppers! Another over-priced FA with no fire. And by the way the Osi bashing is really getting old (above)... All Osi wants is to start, and he will be a pro-bowler - AGAIN - for the 3rd time - next season... period.

  7. Nah. I'd rather draft a DE and go younger and hungrier.

  9. i would not rule anyone out yet. seems like player contracts are going to come down. he would be great on our line, he has the ability to singlehandedly take over a game.

  10. Peppers is most certainly an upgrade over any of our guys, the only question is the price tag.

Besides, we need LBs and safeties, not DL.

  11. No way! Peppers with his patchwork history in Carolina should warrant a no look policy from the Giants! I agree Ernie, Peppers disappears way to much in many big games. Plus he does seem way to much like a prima donna! I don't want another Shockey!

  12. We should keep an eye on Peppers. If teams steer clear and the price comes down, grab him. He's a good addition if he comes at the right price.

Probably won't happen though. Too many dumb owners.
