All-Decade Team

Forgot to mention this little piece of information: the NFL announced it's All-Decade team before last night's Pro Bowl. As expected, Michael Strahan was the only Giant named.

Here's the entire list. Seems like a pretty solid bunch. Any arguments?

  1. I always thought Zack Thomas was overrated. Anyone else?

Very solid group overall though, naturally.

  2. Warren Sapp made the all 90's and all 00's team. TOTALLY OVERRATED! His mouth was always bigger than his play, Derrick Brooks was a far more important player and save a 4 or 5 year stretch Sapp was slighlty better than league avg and never worth the pay or trouble he made with his mouth. Ronde Barber???? Huh??? What about Woodson????

  3. A few players who I feel don't belong, but not a horrible list. I just really question the inclusion of Belicheck. How good would have his teams been if they didn't already know what plays the opposing defense had called? For me, the whole videotape fiasco should preclude him from the list. That was a huge advantage for his teams in only Goodell knows how many games. Since the tapes were "conviently" destroyed, we will never know how big of a role they payed in NE's success.

  4. Dweez makes an excellent point. What have they won since they got pinched?

I also think Sapp is overrated.

  5. Tiki was a locker room cancer, but regardless he should have been on the list.

  6. I think we can make a case for Tiki over Edgerrin James and Jamal Lewis, can't we? It's a shame that Tiki basically destroyed in 1 minute all the good will he built up over the years.

  7. Yeah, the whole Tiki thing is just strange. I remember when he played with the Giants and he would do an occasional piece on WCBS news. The guy would come in and be as nice as can be (the dude is short!). I am a freelance camera op, so from time to time I would Tiki's cameraman. The guy never had a bad word for anybody. Polite, gracious, class act. Then he goes to the Today Show and becomes an insufferable a**. I had buddies over there who said he was miserable off camera as well. I don't know what turned in Tiki's life, but it's a shame that he felt obligated to kill so much goodwill that the fans had for him. Even if what he was saying was 100% true, there are ways to criticize that are constructive. He chose to just be bitter and vindictive. Sad, really. It got him nowhere and made him look pathetic.

  8. I heard Tiki on Mike Francessa's show the other day. While he was upbeat and cordial I could still here his snotty pot shots coming through. I think he's actually bitter about his own decision to retire, which is strange.

As far a Tiki being "All Decade", I would have to disagree. He was great for only about 3 seasons. The other backs turned in a better body of work overall.
