Happens To The Best

And for the better part of 15 years with the Broncos, Jason Elam was one of the best kickers in the league. But like them all, his star descended -- fast -- and now he's out of a job after Atlanta launched him today.

Elam, who missed just two field goals last year, his first with the Falcons. But he missed eight of 15 field goal attempts from 30 yards and out this year. Even Lawrence Tynes hasn't done that, so don't expect the Giants to go after Elam even though they did hold kicker tryouts today.

By the way, it doesn't look as though the Giants will sign either Graham Gano or Steve Hauschka, either. And with Matt Bryant signing with the Falcons after a season in the UFL, there's one more experienced kicker off the market.
