The guy is a great player adn very talented, I would grab him without a doubt and maybe trade Jacobs for a 1st round pick. Jacobs only has so much left. I know I'm going to get slaughtered for this statment but if our O-line is going to be that much better next season than this guy and Ahmad Bradshaw would make for a mean backfield.
Not slaughtered, but I did shake my head. Agree Tom, Jacobs maybe worth a 3. The guy has never played all 16 games in a season and has had some major injuries the past 3 years. Now, he is recovering from knee surgery and had a very lack-luster year. No one would touch Jacobs in a trade, after a year of not hitting holes hard and trying to turn corners. The dude is not fast enough for that. If we take Spiller, we can either 1. trade Bradshaw, which I would not want to ever do or 2. dumb Ware, which is more likely. With Spiller, Hixon's role on the team would be limited, as we would no longer need his services for KR/PR. That leaves him open for trade and can open a spot for Barden.
I like the idea of Spiller at 15, as long as he falls to that point and no other top defensive pick available to help the squad right away.
since the whole point is to win superbowls here are the last 5 winners along with the rb's that started for them: 2010- Saints, Pierre Thomas 2009- Steelers, Willie Parker? 2008- Giants, Brandon Jacobs 2007- Colts, Joseph Addai 2006- Steelers, Jerome Bettis
Trading running backs in the NFL doesn't get you very far. The supply of running backs is greater than the demand. Most good teams do not have 1, but 2 or 3 good RB's in some cases (i.e. Dallas). There's just so little value in doing so.
i agree with CE718 100%. RB is not a position you trade up for, we only take spiller if he is the highest rated person on our board left. I wonder how he rates compared to a McClain
I gotta admit after seeing some of Spiller's highlights - wow! He really is exciting, and he obviously would be an immediate huge addition to the Giants offense. It's just too bad that the Giants so desperately need a MLB. ...And we're better off letting Jacobs finish his career with the Giants - injuries aside - NO ONE wants to tackle him, and opposing defense are still afraid of him (as they should be!)... JB
I believe it when it's done against a NFL defense. Until then, it's only potential. I think Spiller is a luxury that the Giants cannot afford. The defense has to be addressed first.

ReplyDeleteYou'd be lucky to get a 3 for Jacobs, Dom.
ReplyDelete3rd would be generous

Sorry, I meant trade our pick and Jacobs to move closer to get Spiller

ReplyDeleteThe day of CJ Spiller and no Wayno? What the hell?

ReplyDeleteMLB please. Our defense is a doughnut right now.
