Still Waiting

Still have a few days until the March 4 deadline for tendering restricted free agents. But here's a handy-dandy scorecard detailing where the Giants are at now as far as their third and fourth-year players, assuming there will be no miraculous agreement on a new CBA.

G Kevin Boothe -- Tendered, not sure of level.
DT Barry Cofield -- Second round, $1.759 million.
WR Derek Hagan -- Tendered, not sure of level.
WR Sinorice Moss -- Original draft pick (second-round, but must accept third-round compensation), $1.176 million.
WR Domenik Hixon -- Second-round, $1.684 million.
DE Dave Tollefson -- Second round, $1.684 million.
T Guy Whimper -- Original pick (fourth round), $1.176 million.
LB Gerris Wilkinson -- Original pick (third round) $1.176 million.

Not tendered so far: CB Kevin Dockery, S C.C. Brown, and TE Darcy Johnson.

Note: According to Ralph V., Moss' tender level drops him from second-round (original draft position) to third round because other players were tendered at second-round levels. Had the Giants decided not to use second-round tenders on Tollefson, Cofield, and Hixon, they'd have been entitled to a second-rounder for Moss.

Either way, I doubt anybody will be in the market for Moss. Better to wait until the Giants either sign him or pull the tender entirely. Of course, if I was Moss, I'd sign that tender right away. But that's just me.

  1. U need a Phd to figure out these rules. Thanks for the Moss third round tidbit! I think the reason Moss isn't signing it is because the Giants would just pull it and he would have no leverage with any phantom teams that may want a reciever who runs bad routes and can't get open.
