Official Rolle

The Cardinals made it official today. In order to avoid paying out a hefty roster bonus, they released safety Antrel Rolle, who had a pick in the Giants' Oct. 25 loss. Word out of Arizona is the Cardinals will try hard to re-sign Rolle, but for now he's fair game.

My guess is he remains a Cardinal unless the Giants or somebody else lays about $8 million per year on him. Seems like a lot for any team, but the 27-year-old Rolle has done a good job at free safety the past two seasons. He'd certainly be a worthy pickup at the right price, especially since the Giants are down on current free safety Michael Johnson. So we'll keep an eye out for any movement on that front.

Also, those hoping to make a play for San Diego running back Darren Sproles, forget it. They tendered him at a first and third-round level, effectively taking him off the market.

  1. Let's go! I say make a play. He is relatively young and a definate upgrade. I still say you draft at that position but we have to, have to, get rid of Michael Johnson. He was BRUTAL last year.
